Stewart is an author based in Ottawa, Canada. He began his career in film and video production, working as a scriptwriter, director, cameraman and editor. His work was nominated for Gemini and CASBY awards and won accolades from the Yorkton Film Festival, the New York Film & Television Festival, the Mercury Awards (New York) and the Canadian Film and Television Association. Since 1998, he has focused solely on writing. He is a senior writer with Stiff, an Ottawa communications agency. His first surviving work of fiction is The Cutting Room.
The Cutting Room was named to Kirkus Reviews’ Best Indie Novels of 2014, and was a finalist for the 2015 Ottawa Book Awards, English fiction.
Stewart is a member of the Writers’ Union of Canada, Canadian Authors Association, Crime Writers of Canada, Capital Crime Writers, and Ottawa Independent Writers.
